On Writing Daily
In the last thing I wrote on this website, I mentioned I’m reading Lydia Davis’s Essays One. This is what the cover of the book looks like:
I’m sitting here reading it tonight, 9:30 pm on a Friday night, in the living room, listening to music, and it occurs to me that today’s the first day since Sunday I didn’t write something for this website. Today I didn’t write anything at all, aside from emails.
Then I read page 55 in this book of essays by Lydia Davis and she describes a book by the poet David Lehman and
his book Daily Mirror, the result of his challenge to himself to write one poem each day, a challenge that could bear good fruit for any of us.
And reading that, I thought, what’s my excuse? And so I wrote what you’re reading now.
